Online Security Training
Basic Security Guard Training Ontario
Our Basic Security Guard online training program, offered in English only will provide you with the skills and abilities essential to work as a security guard in the province of Ontario.
Course Content and Duration
This online 33.5-hour online training program must be completed before applying for the security guard licence issued by Service Ontario and is mandatory for every person in Ontario wishing to perform paid work that consists primarily of guarding or patrolling for the purpose of protecting persons or property. This training applies to people who want to work for private security agencies as well as registered employers in the province of Ontario.
Please note that this course is only offered in English.
Proof of emergency first aid training certification through a Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (Ontario) approved first aid trainer must be provided to complete the online training program. Missing first aid certification? GardaWorld also offers in-person first aid training.
After receiving your successful completion certificate for the security guard course, your training completion number will be generated by Serco Canada Inc. for security guard testing. Upon successful completion of testing, you would be eligible to apply for your security guard licence via Service Ontario.
Please note that testing and licencing fees are not included in the pricing for the online security guard basic training and must be purchased separately after completion of training.

Requirements:
- Must be able to read, write and speak in English
- Must be 18 years or older (for licence eligibility)
- Must have no criminal record (for licence eligibility)
- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada (for licence eligibility)
Certifications
Once training has been completed, the participant will receive a training certificate by email and will be eligible to apply for a security guard testing directly with Serco Canada Inc. Please note that completion of online security guard training requires proof of a valid emergency- or standard-level first aid certificate by a WSIB Ontario approved provider.
