Environment and Conservation
Capacity Building for Human-Wildlife Conflict Mitigation
Our commitment to undertaking business in a manner that ensures protection of the environment extends beyond our internal operations. With infrastructure across several National Parks and Protected Areas throughout East Africa, there is a unique role we believe GardaWorld can play in promotion environmental stewardship and conservation – and we are committed to honouring this.
As population grows and consequent settlement expansion persists, human-wildlife conflict in areas co-habited by humans and animals has become an issue of ever-increasing concern.
Through a collaboration with Elephant Protection Initiative Foundation in Tanzania, GardaWorld procured a vehicle to mitigate human wildlife conflict in and around Ngorongoro Conservation Area. The vehicle will help enhance mobility, allowing quicker response to distress calls amongst the community members.
In Kenya, we continue to sponsor the world-famous Tusk Lewa Safari Marathon which happens annually at the Lewa Wildlife Conservancy in northern Kenya. The contribution goes towards supporting conservation projects across Kenya and raising awareness of the threats facing Africa’s incredible biodiversity.
CSR – GardaWorld Security Africa
Driving Positive Social Impact
At GardaWorld, we recognise that the activities we undertake have far-reaching impacts beyond service delivery – promoting economic opportunity, cross-cutting stakeholders and impacting upon the local environment. We also know that strong, secure communities can bring a wealth of benefits, and we consistently look to how we can utilise our business to promote positive social and environmental benefits. We do this by exploring transformative community initiatives aimed at safeguarding human rights and fostering a brighter future for all. Our Corporate Social Responsibility Programme reflects this belief and focuses on the delivery of high-impact, sustainable projects which leverage the unique capabilities of GardaWorld whilst aligning with local needs. The programme is governed by our CSR Policy and CSR Panel, who drive the growth of the CSR Programme.
